Message from Rev. Irene Ty:

We celebrate the liturgical Season of Creation this Sunday by worshipping outdoors.   At Westminster, we are very fortunate to have this lovely spot on the church lawn under the shade of trees.   We will reflect on how we are kin to all the creatures on this planet earth.  In one of the Creation stories in the Bible, God called humans to be caretakers of this garden of the earth. Let us take in this lovely day and worship and praise our Creator God.

We hope you can join our outdoor service in person. The service will be recorded and the link will be provided next week.

Taizé worship at Applewood UC:

On Sunday, September 21st you are invited to a special Taizé worship service at 1:30 pm. This style of worship was created by the Taizé community in France, where it has been practised for decades. It is a quiet and contemplative service which includes scripture readings, spoken prayers, simple repeated choruses and periods of silence, and lasts about forty minutes. It can be a refreshing spiritual time for those who are drawn to more reflective worship. If you are able, you might contact our office to let us know you are planning to attend.  Jo-Anne Prentice, Office Administrator, 905-277-4162

Applewood United Church, 2067 Stanfield Rd, Mississauga

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We acknowledge that the land on which Westminster United Church stands has been inhabited by the residents of Turtle Island for thousands of years. This land is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the New Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Neutral, the Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations people. We also acknowledge that Mississauga is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. Westminster is committed to the ongoing work of reconciliation as we learn about the effects of colonialism and seek to heal relations with Indigenous people.
